Mendenhall Glacier Interpretation and Education Internship

Help staff the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center 3 days/week. This includes greeting visitors, answering questions and providing information on the area.
Assist with activities in the youth Discovery Zone, continuing to build themed, educational, self/parent led activities that change periodically and can be used for future winters.
Help staff the weekly Fireside Lecture Series on Friday nights, greeting lecture attendees and assisting in operating the audio-visual equipment.
Assist with meeting groups at the visitor center for special programs.
Intern will work approximately 40 hours per week and will be required to work weekends and some evenings.
A Forest Service uniform will be provded for work with the exception of boots. Interns will need to come with dark brown or black work boots.
Location Description
Juneau is the capital of Alaska, yet only accessible by plane or boat. Population is approximately 30,000. Winters are mild, but many outdoor activities are available.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
