Summary:
This position will provide direct service to the local community, including but not limited to recruitment, outreach, and implementing local community relations processes in coordination with statewide plans.
This position is responsible for providing high-level customer service throughout the enrollment and matching process for Volunteers and Youth.
This position is responsible for ensuring child safety, positive impacts for youth, constructive and satisfying relationships between the youth and volunteer mentor, and a strong sense of affiliation with Big Brothers Big Sisters on the part of the volunteers.
The successful incumbent will produce positive outcomes in the following areas:
volunteer and youth yield and processing time, and new match goals.
This position will work with participants across all communities that Big Brothers Big Sisters of Alaska serves, while being particularly mindful of the Alaska Native people, land and cultures where we operate.
JOB
Responsibilities:
Community Coordinator:
Cultivate and steward relationships with local donors, community leaders, and other stakeholders.
Maintain local records according to agency standards.
Provide local staff support to any special events or fundraisers.
Participate in local grant development.
Notify leadership of grant opportunities.
Assist with grant applications and reports.
Maintain relationships with grant administrators.
Identify and negotiate partnerships with local agencies, employers, and school districts.
Engage in community meetings, coalitions and events for the purpose of engagement of volunteers and donors.
Other duties as assigned.
Point person for local community.
Enrollment Specialist:
Adhere to the mission, vision and values of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Alaska.
Assess volunteer fit to BBBS.
Conduct volunteer enrollments (virtual and in-person), including:
interviews, training, and completion of any other enrollment processes.
Conduct youth enrollments (virtual and in-person) including parent/youth interviews, youth safety education and enrollment processes.
Assess and refer families for alternative or additional services as needed.
Ensure high-level proficiency in applying youth safety and risk management knowledge, policies and procedures throughout all aspects of job function.
Identify youth safety issues for volunteers, youth and their families.
Identifyand eliminate any barriers interfering with the completion of the enrollment process.
Assist with volunteer references.
Immediately bring concerns regarding reference information which may influence the volunteer enrollment process to the attention of the supervisor.
Conduct volunteer and youth reassessments/updates as required.
Review all enrollment information and assessments and make recommendations for participation in the program based on this information.
Assess and apply factors contributing to successful match and effectively align volunteer interests and qualifications with service options of the agency.
Provide comprehensive assessments and match support recommendations for volunteer and youth participation in the program based upon assessments of each individual participant.
Maintain accurate and timely records for each match according to BBBSA Standards of Practice and BBBSAK Functional Standards.
Utilize technology to report, synthesize and analyze data.
Determine matches and facilitate match meetings (virtual and in-person) in accordance with volunteer and family schedules.
Make recommendations to Match Support Specialists for training and support needs.
Collaborate with other service delivery staff to ensure smooth transition among functions.
Represent, promote and protect the interests of the organization by participating and attending events, as assigned.

Qualifications:
Must have high school diploma/GED equivalent, and meet one of the following criteria:
A documented bachelor's degree, from an accredited college or university, in a related field, or within six months of degree completion; A documented associates degree or two years of higher education experience, from an accredited college or university in a related field, and two years of relevant work experience in related fields such as social work, counseling, social services, child development or other related field; Four years of relevant work experience in related fields, such as social work, counseling, social services, child development or other related field.
Experience working with both youth and adult populations, specific assessment, intake, or interview experience, preferred.
Must have access to reliable transportation.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Excellent oral and written communication skills reflecting solid customer service and high-level interviewingskills.
Ability to form appropriate assessment-based relationships.
Experience or knowledge of trauma-informed care.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
