Assistant Construction Manager

The Assistant Construction Manager provides support to oversee the day-to-day project management of construction projects throughout Alaska.
Provide construction project managers to oversee the day-to-day project management of construction projects throughout Alaska.
Perform program & project management, contract administration, time management, quality management, cost management & value engineering, and safety & risk management.
Ensure construction is in accordance with plans and specifications.
Make on-site visits and work with Superintendents/ Contractor's Project Managers of construction project(s) and provide written reports.
Be an effective communicator, understand risks, and develop strategies to reviews including, but not limited to, equipment and material submittals, progress charts, quality control (QC) and Safety Plans, and various work plans.
Oversee project schedule, construction progress, and period of performance/contract completion date.
Monitor the Contractor's Project Management for compliance with appropriate actions to the Perform constructability reviews of project and contract documents.
COR/CS/KO.
Research and identify design and/or construction problems and provide recommendations to the Coast Guard (CG) construction Project Management team.
Process/respond to contractor Requests for Information (RFI's) and Design Clarification Requests (DCR's).
Assist with development of contract modifications and associated documents to include but not limited to:
construction cost estimates, red line drawings, statement of work, and edits to the specifications.
Inspect on-going construction, document problems, and recommend solutions, in professional manner.
Coordinate between fieldwork, affected organizations, and government.
Work with local USCG staff to explain and inform on construction activities.
4-year Architecture/Engineering/Construction Management Degree (Must show degree and year received, major, GPA, and name of school/college/university degree received from) Education must be ABET accredited.
OR:
4 year degree a CPM shall be a Certified Design-Build Professional (DBIATM) through the Design-Build Institute of America Assoc.
DBIA is not equivalent OR Certified Construction Manager (CCM ) through Construction Manager's Association of America CMAA certified as described in ANSI/ISO/IEC 17024 6 years total experience being a field engineer, project manager, or managing multiple construction contracts involving multiple disciplines/trades.
Certified Design-Build Professional or a Certified Construction Manager:
10 years of total experience being a field engineer, project manager, superintendent, or some other managerial construction project management position.
3 years of construction management oversight experience w/in the last 7 years on projects with a construction dollar value of approximately $1M-$10M (per project).
(Must show position title held & description of responsibilities, construction project start/completion dates, construction dollar value of project, and description of project.
Certified Design-Build Professional or a Certified Construction Manager:
6 years of construction management oversight experience w/in the last 10 years on projects with a construction dollar value of approximately $1M-$10M (per project).
Show position title held & description of responsibilities, construction project start/completion dates, construction dollar value of project, and description of project.
Experience with Federal and/or State Agency design-build, or design-bid-build contracts is a preference.
(Must show position title held, name of agency and description of project, COR/KO of project and provide CPARS for that project.
In lieu of CPARS must provide COR/KO that can speak to the success of the project) 1 year construction experience performed in Alaska or Coastal areas (within 20 miles of the shoreline) (Must show position title held, project location, and description of project.
Preferred:
Demonstrated experience in managing construction on active projects facilities and construction for compliance with contract requirements.
Demonstrated experience in renovation project experience and techniques while keeping facilities operating and/or occupied Experience in project controls.
Project control encompass the processes, experience, people skills, and tools used to plan, manage, monitor and mitigate any risk or event that may affect the cost and schedule of a project.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office skills, Primavera P6, and Microsoft Project.
4 year degree ABET accredited, DBIA certified, or CCM certified qualifies the candidate, any more than one is considered favorably.
