What You Will Be DoingThe Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of Support Services is recruiting for a full-time Procurement Specialist 2 in Anchorage.
This position supports DNR in accomplishing its mission by performing regular and complex procurements (small and large) for goods and services in accordance with the State of Alaska Procurement Code and DNR policies and procedures.
The Department of Natural Resources' mission is to develop, conserve and maximize the use of Alaska's natural resources consistent with the public interest.
This position will work as part of a four-person team that is part of a large department responsible for a wide variety of activities, projects and programs.
This position is important as it provides critical procurement duties necessary to support the goals and objectives of DNR's divisions.

Procurement team members can expect rewarding work activities critical to supporting the mission of DNR.
Procurement team members support the department through a variety of activities, including but not limited to:
procurement, fixed asset/inventory management, facility/lease management, and records management.
Core Responsibilities Procurement activities for various types of goods and services; Contract administration for DNR contracts; Preparing Requests for Alternate Procurement for review and approval; Investigate, analyze, recommend, and take action on protests, appeals, procurement/contract disputes, and vendor compliance issues; Holding pre-bid and pre-proposal conferences with vendors; Facilitating procurement meetings with project managers and stakeholders; Maintaining accurate and complete procurement files.

The Working Environment You Can ExpectThe position is in the Atwood Building in downtown Anchorage, with an individual working space on the 13th floor.
Daily schedules are flexible and telework agreements are offered.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to be successful in this position include Ability to read, interpret and apply procurement statutes, regulations and policies/procedures; Excellent technical writing and editing ability for a wide range of procurement and contract documents; Ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent projects; Ability to work with both internal and external diverse customers in a professional manner; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Minimum Qualifications One year of procurement experience involving writing or approving solicitations, explaining contracting requirements, developing or approving product specifications or, developing or approving a scope of work for professional services equivalent to Contracting Officer 1 or Procurement Specialist 1 with the State of Alaska.
Equivalent procurement work may also be present in positions in classes such as Administrative Assistant 2 or Stock and Parts Services 3.
ORA bachelor's degree in business administration, logistics, supply chain management, project management, or a related field.
Special Note:
Some positions in the series may require an Alaska driver's license.
