Summary:
The Director of Admissions leads a dynamic team and works collaboratively to oversee a holistic admissions process and increase pathways to education for Alaskans.

30 RELATIONS Establish and maintain relationships with a wide variety of key stakeholders to advance the goals for strategic enrollment, including but not limited to internal stakeholders within departments across our three campuses, peers and other stakeholders within the UA system, and key partnerships with community and tribal partners, at high schools, community colleges, other colleges and universities, professional organizations, vendors, students, parents, faculty, alumni, and donors.
Serve on university committees and working groups as appointed by the Vice-Chancellor.
Essential 35 MANAGEMENT Lead, hire, train, supervise, develop, and evaluate members of the Admissions team.
Communicate overall vision and strategies, departmental updates, and policy/procedural changes to department staff to ensure timely and effective execution.
Direct the day-to-day operations of the five professional staff and student recruiters who manage various aspects of the enrollment process (in addition to other services).
These services include:
high school and other in-person classroom visits, campus tours,recruitment events, admissions processing and data management, transition advising, student exchange and study abroad, and community outreach.
Coordinate Juneau-based services and collaboratively support staff and faculty at the Sitka and Ketchikan campuses.
Lead department planning to improve internal workflow and processes, customer services, responsiveness, and identifying and to eliminate barriers for student enrollment and first year transition success.
Lead, train, evaluate, and develop all team members.
Forecast, create and manage an annual admissions budget that supports the admissions and recruitment strategies.
Oversee the management of all software products related to the admissions process, including but not limited to issues of renewal, functionality, reporting and acquisition of new tools that advance the admissions goals and objectives.
Maintain compliance with all university admissions standards as well as state regulations and international admissions procedures.
Ensure security and confidentiality of prospective and current student information records.
Understand and abide by FERPA.
Essential 35 STRATEGY In conjunction with the Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs, develop and implement a successful data-informed admissions and recruitment strategy annually for UAS.
This will include short and long range planning.
This will include policy expertise, development, implementation, analysis and, as appropriate, applying appropriate judgment for granting exceptions.
These successful strategies should align with and advance the universitys strategic enrollment initiatives and ensure alignment across UAS three campuses.
Report key findings and metrics on a regular basis.
Conduct an annual assessment of program services.
In conjunction with Institutional Effectiveness, develop and/or utilize reporting tools to assess volume, yield, and productivity, and to forecast enrollment.
Analyze recruitment, admissions and enrollment data to ensure alignment with strategic enrollment priorities.
Review, leverage and interpret data to meet established standards in service levels, staff productivity and quality assurance.
Set targets and utilize data to develop and implement strategies that will result in quantifiable and measurable goals.
Work collaboratively with key stakeholders to research, analyze, and make recommendations about labor market trends, student demands, and leveraging of institutional funds.
Facilitate strategies for prospect and inquiry generation.
Collaboratively develop and oversee all correspondence related to student recruitment, admissions, and enrollment, including:
communications relative to print, email, telemarketing, multimedia, web, social and digital media.
Plan, manage, and coordinate admissions processes, campus tours, program events, and travel for staff.
Ensure timely application processing and enrollment timeframes.

The Director of Admissions provides leadership for all areas of undergraduate admissions across three campuses:
Juneau, Ketchikan, and Sitka.

-Demonstrate knowledge of current trends and issues impacting college decision-making and enrollment issues.
-Demonstrate knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and guidelines related to admissions and enrollment, including but not limited to international admissions, open enrollment, recruitment, financial aid, etc.
-Possess experience to assess, modify, develop, and implement policy and program design.
-Possess experience managing contracts, relational databases, budgets, and other institutional resources -Possess strong organizational skills, demonstrated use of data-informed decision-making, and experience with strategic planning.
-Effectively supervise and evaluate assigned staff while building a highly collaborative team.
-Possess and demonstrate excellent skills in oral and written communication.
Preferred Experience & Education:
-Experience leading professional staff -Experience with relational data systems -Advanced public speaking skills -Project management experience -Marketing/sales experience -Experience interpreting, analyzing, and evaluating data and complex challenges to identify solutions and targets.
Required Experience & Education:
-Bachelor's degree required.
-Master's degree preferred.
-Minimum five years of progressively responsible relevant professional experience in higher education OR five years of progressively responsible management experience in a business or alternative higher education role may substitute for this requirement.
-Minimum two years of professional staff supervisory experience.
