As a Research Geneticist (Molecular), you will perform the following duties:
o Design, conduct and analyze population genetic research for ongoing, long-term efforts to assess and monitor the genetic diversity of marine fish and/or salmonids.o Apply advanced molecular genetic techniques to population genetic and ecological problems in conservation and management of anadromous and marine organisms.o Utilize advanced quantitative and statistical techniques, and develop bioinformatics methods to analyze genetic data sets and inform future management actions to conserve and recover protected marine species.o Communicate results of scientific studies to both lay and to professional audiences through presentations for general and technical audiences. EDUCATION:
To qualify for the 0440 series:
A. Degree:
genetics; or one of the basic biological sciences that included at least 9 semester hours in genetics. OR B. Graduate Education:
Genetics, or a curriculum or pattern of training that placed major emphasis on genetics. Graduate study in related fields such as agronomy, horticulture, animal, dairy, or poultry husbandry, entomology, microbiology, plant pathology, chemistry, molecular and cellular biology, and physiology that involved cross-training in genetics is qualifying, provided it placed sufficient emphasis on genetics. AND SPECIALIZED
Experience:
Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government.Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.To qualify at the ZP-3 or GS-11 level:

Experience:
In addition to meeting the basic requirements above, applicants must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the ZP-2 or GS-09 in the Federal service. Specialized experience MUST include all of the following:
Applying population and molecular genetics methods to assess the genetic diversity and population structure of marine or anadromous species; and Aiding in population genetics studies of marine or anadromous organisms. OR EDUCATION:
A master's degree or equivalent graduate degree in a related discipline. OR COMBINATION:
A combination of education and experience as described above. Note:
Only graduate education in excess of one year is qualifying for combination.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
